Little Finger!

A question for Harry but anyone else with an opinion please feel free to answer.

Harry,

I purchased your DVD's some time ago. I have been playing the exercises. However I have not been getting on very well and have struggled with my left hand little finger. I have played guitar for some time and have never really used my little finger for lead work (cords yes but not lead). Should I carry on trying with my little finger (at the risk of getting disheartened and giving up) or work arround it with the other three? Would this cause problems with speed later? I notice watching video's of players that the little finger is much less used than the others. As an aside I find it harder on the bottom (fatter) strings on a tetrachordo would a trichordo be easier?

cheers

P.S. Any news on the extras yet?

Greetings ahollowa.

Here's the thing with the pinky....I'm starting to reconsider whether the pinky is as important as the other three fingers.

Speed is not compromised by not making use of the 4th finger. Just go to youtube and type in Tatasopoulos and you'll see what i mean. The guy place with 3 fingers 90% of the time and he is the fastest i have seen.

If you are very comfortable with using the 3 fingers...then keep doing so and built strength and speed in those. The pinky will come in handy once in a while though, so do not completely ignore it. The more exercises you do, the better all fingers will respond.

As for the extra materials...I was originally planning to have these start appearing in the middle of September, but it looks like the material will start coming out before the middle of this month.

Regards,

Harry.

Harry,

Thanks for the reply. That is good news. I can still practice with the little finger on the thinner top strings to build strength while moving on with the excercises and therefore making progress.

Looking forward to the new materials.

cheers

Al.
